AEM...Buy on DIP ?

Buying opportunity ?

■ Bloomberg reported that Apple is looking to use its own chips for its Mac computers beginning as early as 2020.
■ Bloomberg estimates Apple contributes about 5% of its current chip supplier’s revenue.
■ We see the share price weakness as a buying opportunity as AEM’s major customer is already targeting new growth areas beyond the computing business segment.

Bloomberg article
● According to a Bloomberg news article, Apple Inc (AAPL US, Not Rated) is planning to use its own chips in Mac computers beginning as early as 2020, replacing processors from its current chip supplier.
● The initiative is still in the early developmental stages but comes as part of a larger strategy to make all of Apple’s devices – including Macs, iPhones, and iPads – work more similarly and seamlessly together.
● According to Bloomberg’s own analysis, this chip supplier generates about 5% of its annual revenue from Apple.

What you should do ?
● We see the share price decline as a buying opportunity for new investors.
● As a reference, AEM’s recent vendor placement price was S$6.10.
● There are also no changes to AEM’s FY18 guidance of a pretax profit of at least S$42m, which excludes the contribution from recent acquisitions.
● Maintain Add and target price, based on 10x FY19F EPS (17% discount to peer average).
● Potential re-rating catalysts include stronger-than-expected customer orders. Downside risks include order delays or cancellations.

Hot stock: Creative Technology at $7.39, hit decade high

CREATIVE surges $2.26, up 44% to $7.39 on 4.4 mil shares mid-day.
The CGS-CIMB team noted that Creative is trading at a price-to-sales ratio of 2.9 times, against the ratio of 2.5 times for the small to mid-cap technology stocks under coverage, and a ratio of 10.3 times for Hong Kong-listed giant Razer.

By Annabeth Leow

CREATIVE Technology shot to the top of the Singapore Exchange's gainers list on Monday morning, after glowing reports about the potential of the mainboard-listed consumer technology company's "3D audio" product.
The counter was up by S$1.70, or 33.14 per cent, to S$6.83, as at 10.25am - a level not seen since 2008. More than 2.93 million shares had changed hands.
Stock watchers enjoyed a brief stint as technology reviewers last week at a showcase of the company's new Super X-Fi, which can plug into devices to deliver a listening experience that mimics how people hear in real life.
DBS analyst Sachin Mittal wrote in a March 1 report that the Super X-Fi technology "could be a much needed lifeline for the company".

... 50% Retracement occasionally manifest itself after Sharp Rebounds from Volatile Sell-Down.

In Technical Analysis
- Fibonacci Retracement is created by taking two extreme points (usually a major Peak & Trough) on a stock chart & dividing the vertical distance by the key Fibonacci ratios of 23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8% and 100%.
- Once these levels are identified, horizontal lines
are drawn and used to identify possible support & resistance levels. Before we can understand why these ratios were chosen, we need to have a better understanding of the Fibonacci number series.

Singapore's Highest-Yielding Billionaire Plays

  • The five highest-yielding companies stocks include  Hi-P International (10.9%), M1 (6.3%) and STI constituents StarHub (6.2%), ST Engineering (5.3%) and ComfortDelgro (5.2%).

  • The five highest-yielding REITs and business trusts include Lippo Malls Indonesia Retail Trust (8.8%), Hutchison Port Holdings Trust (7.6%), Frasers Commercial Trust (7.0%), Ascendas REIT (6.9%), and OUE Commercial REIT/ Keppel Infrastructure Trust (both 6.6%).
  • Over the last 12 months, the five best performers were Hi-P International (363.0%), CDL Hospitality Trusts (32.5%), Mapletree Greater China Commercial Trust (31.0%), OUE Hospitality Trust (30.1%) and Far East Hospitality Trust (28.7%)
SGX lists 91 primary-listed stocks with a market capitalisation above S$1.0 billion. Of these, 36 have dividend yields above 4.0%, which compares with the benchmark Straits Times Index's (STI) current yield of 3.1%.

Of these 36 stocks, 29 are categorised as Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) as well as stapled and/or business trusts, while seven are companies. This includes eight STI stocks.

The five highest-yielding companies are Hi-P International (10.9%), M1 (6.3%), StarHub (6.2%), ST Engineering (5.3%) and ComfortDelgro (5.2%). The five highest-yielding REITs and business trusts are Lippo Malls Indonesia Retail Trust (8.8%), Hutchison Port Holdings Trust (7.6%), Frasers Commercial Trust (7.0%), Ascendas REIT (6.9%), and OUE Commercial REIT/ Keppel Infrastructure Trust (both 6.6%).

Over the last 12 months, the five best performers were Hi-P International (363.0%), CDL Hospitality Trusts (32.5%), Mapletree Greater China Commercial Trust (31.0%), OUE Hospitality Trust (30.1%) and Far East Hospitality Trust (28.7%).

IT and Real Estate were the strongest sectors as funds rotated into cyclical plays last year. With higher worldwide semiconductor sales and stronger demand for consumer electronics in 2017, both upstream and downstream tech companies benefitted from the global swing. One key beneficiary was electronics contract manufacturer Hi-P International, which has seen its stock surge 266.7% over the course of 2017. Yesterday, the Apple supplier reported a 122.8% YoY increase in net profit to a record S$121.5 million for the year ended 31 December 2017.

As for the Singapore real estate market, MAS Managing Director Ravi Menon pointed out last year that private home sales have shown signs of stabilising, and property prices should be aligned with broader income trends of the domestic economy. He also noted that the local property market had substantially stabilised over the last three years, with underlying demand for private homes remaining firm amidst a low interest-rate environment.

The table below details the six non-REIT stocks, sorted by yield. The yields were extracted from StockFacts, and in cases where they were manually calculated, the most recently announced dividend payout was annualised based on the dividend payment frequency of the stock, and divided by the current market price.
